The Maynard Police Department is committed to serving our community and being a resource for those who may be experiencing mental health or substance use issues. We have an in-house clinician who partners with officers to provide support and improve access to resources to our community.
Jail Diversion Program
The Jail Diversion Program (JDP) is a unique partnership funded by the Department of Mental Health between Eliot Community Human Services and the Police Departments of Bedford, Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Lexington, and Maynard. The partnership also collaborates with many other community partners such as Concord District Court, DVSN, community hospitals, local schools, and many area behavioral health providers.
The Jail Diversion Coordinator/Clinician works directly and collaboratively with police officers to address and support the mental health and substance abuse needs of people coming into contact with law enforcement. By working together, the clinician and officers can respond more effectively to residents dealing with mental illness.
