WHAT:
Members of the Maynard Police and Fire Departments will be recognized for their actions during a medical incident in April.
On April 8, Maynard Police and Fire responded to a medical call where a man was struggling to breathe.
Upon arrival, police officers located the individual, Doyle, who appeared to be unresponsive. Officers immediately began CPR compressions. Firefighters arrived on scene a short time later, took over compressions and used an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
Maynard Fire transported Doyle to a local hospital. Maynard Police drove Doyle’s wife to the hospital.
Maynard Police officers stayed with the Doyle family at the hospital. Doyle’s heart had started again just as the ambulance arrived at the emergency room, and he was awake and breathing on his own.
Maynard Police and Fire went above and beyond and checked in with the family the following day to see how William was doing.
It was determined that Doyle had suffered a massive heart attack. He is now recovering.
The first responders involved are credited for their quick response and life saving actions during the incident, as well as their empathy and commitment to the residents of Maynard. Doyle will present the awards to first responders.
Members of the media are welcome and are asked to RSVP no later than 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, by contacting Kayla Rochon at kayla@jgpr.net before the event.
